his eyes went to and fro
“ha ! ha !” quoth he, “full p i see
the devil knows how to row”
and now, all y own untree,
i stood on the fir nd !
the herit stepped forth fro the boat,
and scarcely he uld stand
“o shrieve , shrieve , holy an !”
the herit crossed his brow
“say quick,” quoth he,“i bid thee say—
what anner of an art thou ?”
forthwith this fra of e was wrenched
with a woful agony,
which forced to beg y tale ;
and then it left free
sce then, at an uncerta hour,
that agony returns :
and till y ghastly tale is told,
this heart with burns
i pass, like night, fro nd to nd ;
i have strange power of speech ;
that ont that his face i see,
i know the an that t hear :
to hi y tale i teach
what loud uproar bursts fro that door !
the weddg-guests are there :
but the garden-bower the bride
and bride-aids sgg are :
and hark the little vesper bell,
which biddeth to prayer !
