题记：这是一个普普通通的中国女孩子在九十年代末期留学日本时发生的故事。

东京都小平市若草荘
这几天热得人简直要晕过去了。林欣的小屋没有空调，只有房东太太给的一台迷你电风扇。用这个袖珍物件抵挡八月的酷暑，当然是杯水车薪，那闷热的空气还是死死地裹着人的身体，没有一丝凉意。
到了晚间好容易有点凉风，可为了安全，林欣从来不敢开着窗子睡。昨晚喝了太多的咖啡，加上房间里令人窒息的闷热，林欣一直到天亮才朦胧睡了一会儿。
一清早又被树上的鸟鸣吵醒了，再也睡不着。性起身拉开窗子，在窗前的小桌子上看书。为了准备明年大学院的入学考试，有许多参考书要读。平时上课打工，一天到晚疲于奔命，也没时间没精力好好备考。现在放假，正是读书的好机会。
读了一上午的マス?メディア論(大众传媒论)，林欣简单吃了点午饭：一点大酱汤（味噌汁）、一小碗米饭，还有一小块烤鱼（焼きさば）。
吃过饭，她坐在窗前休息。
楼下来了一辆流动冰激淋货车（走るアイスクリーム屋），白色的车身下方刷着粉色的条子，车轮的金属部分和车头也是粉色的，像是刚从童话书里开出来似的。车上的喇叭里在一遍一遍地招揽生意。不时有邻居的妇牵着孩子被吸引了来。
这幅温馨的画面令她回想起昨天晚上。
散了席，斋藤和大谷兵分两路，斋藤送日野和武藤，大谷送林欣和林田到电车站。
接近高田马场站的时候，透过车窗，林欣看到山手线在夜幕中像一条发光的长龙。电车的窗口被夜色衬得愈发亮堂堂的，好像林欣小时候在南京家里透过玻璃窗看到的万家灯火，给人一种温暖而踏实的感觉。
到了地方，与大谷和林田道了晚安，林欣转身走进夜归的人潮里。她的白色高跟凉鞋踏在有些潮湿的柏油路面上，那路面被车站的灯光映成缤纷的颜色。林欣爱这夜景和自己的高跟鞋跟与路面碰撞发出的脆响。在这个陌生冷漠的城市，竟然有这样一个温馨的夜晚。她仿佛是刚从同学聚会散席，而走在南京中山南路梧桐树荫下。
可惜这翻译课结束了，这一点点的温馨也就会随之而去了吧。
林欣正想着心事，忽然看到一辆黑色的车在马路对面的空场上停下来。车门一开，走出来的是房东太太。开车的是个中年男人，隔着车窗玻璃，看不清面容。
房东太太拿了一口旧的小钢精锅给林欣，说是家里闲置不用的。林欣把几个月前那个骚扰电话的事告诉了房东太太。房东太太听了立刻说：≈ap;ldo;我从来没有把林桑的电话号码告诉过别人。这些电话号码都是反复使用的，可能是前一个电话人把号码告诉了不三不四的人。≈ap;rdo;
房东太太这么一说，倒让林欣有点不好意思。
房东太太又问：≈ap;ldo;今天不用上学吗？≈ap;rdo;
林欣微笑着说：≈ap;ldo;现在还在放暑假呢。不用去学校。≈ap;rdo;
房东太太也笑了，说：≈ap;ldo;你看家里没孩子，就不注意这些事了！≈ap;rdo;
又说了几句，房东太太就告辞了。林欣一直送出门口。就在这个时候，她注意到那辆黑色车子里的司机摇下了窗子，正在向这边张望着。
几天后的一个下午，房东太太又来了。她说要介绍她小学的同学给林欣认识。林欣只得跟着她下了楼，来到马路对面空场上停的黑色轿车前≈ap;dash;≈ap;dash;≈ap;dash;就是上次的那辆车。
车上走下来一个戴银丝边眼镜、穿着西服打着领带的小个子男子。花白头发，有点呆头呆脑，人看着倒是个老实人。
≈ap;ldo;这是中岛先生，我小学的同学。≈ap;rdo;房东太太介绍。
那中岛手里捏着张名片，随着房东太太的介绍双手递了过来。
林欣在大学的教授告诉过他们在日本递名片是很讲究的。人家给你名片，你一定要躬身双手接了，拿到手里细细看，以示对对方的尊重。
中岛的名片上印着：xx制作所开发事业部次长。
房东太太又开了口：≈ap;ldo;中岛先生想跟你练习英语。≈ap;rdo;说完，看了中岛一眼。
那中岛会意，嘴巴张了半天，才终于说出话来：≈ap;ldo;我工作里常常需要用英语。听说你的英语很好，请你帮助我。≈ap;rdo;说完微微一躬。
林欣觉得这大热天，这位中岛先生这样衣冠楚楚地来请她教英文未免有些滑稽。可是碍于房东太太的面子，又不好说≈ap;ldo;不≈ap;rdo;。
正不知如何作答，房东太太在一边说：≈ap;ldo;中岛先生和我是小学同学。后来又是邻居。他的太太会弹钢琴，他的小孩子也都很可爱。≈ap;rdo;
≈ap;ldo;对对，我的小孩子也都喜欢学英语。≈ap;rdo;中岛又是张了半天嘴，才说出这句话。这人说话好像就是这个毛病，嘴巴先要热一下身，方能讲出话来，让人在旁边看着都替他着急。
林欣微笑了一下，对房东太太说：≈ap;ldo;只是我的英语也不大好≈ap;hellip;≈ap;hellip;≈ap;rdo;
房东太太连忙说:≈ap;ldo;林桑的英语教中岛先生是一点问题都没有的！≈ap;rdo;

林欣只好点点头同意了。不过她打定意决不会上中岛的车。要见面就在人来人往的咖啡馆里。
