题记：这是一个普普通通的中国女孩子在九十年代末期留学日本时发生的故事。

东京都小平市若草荘
东京都小平市站前咖啡店。
星期五下午从学校回来，左边燕瘦的房门大开着，空无一物的房间里，房东太太正跪在地上用一块抹布努力地擦那浅色木地板。身畔是一只红色的塑料桶。林欣想：原来若草荘也不都是榻榻米房间。
≈ap;ldo;您好！≈ap;rdo;她在房门口停下，向房东太太打招呼。
房东太太闻声抬头，见是林欣，也微笑着说：≈ap;ldo;你好。≈ap;rdo;一边抬起胳膊，用手背掠了一下披到额前的头发。
≈ap;ldo;她≈ap;hellip;≈ap;hellip;搬走了吗?≈ap;rdo;林欣指了指房间,问道。
≈ap;ldo;是啊！前天早上搬的。≈ap;rdo;房东太太一边将抹布在桶里涮着，一边说。
这邻居做的，真是比邻若天涯！燕瘦搬走，林欣竟然一点也没有觉察。做了半年多的邻居，连她的名字也不知道。
≈ap;ldo;学校怎么样？这个学期有几门课呀？≈ap;rdo;房东太太嘴里问着，手里却没停。
≈ap;ldo;学校很好。这个学期有八门课。≈ap;rdo;林欣微笑着说。
≈ap;ldo;真够呛呀≈ap;rdo;（大変ですね！）房东太太很同情地说。≈ap;ldo;不过林桑的话，应该没问题！≈ap;rdo;
她们又这样有一搭无一搭地聊了几句，房东太太却始终没提中岛，这让林欣觉得有点奇怪。
≈ap;ldo;对了，中岛先生和我明天见面学英文。≈ap;rdo;林欣试探了一句。
房东太太只是说：≈ap;ldo;是吗。≈ap;rdo;（あ、そう≈ap;hellip;）并没有把话继续下去。
第二天是个大太阳天，许多人家都把被子拿出来晒。林欣也把自己的被子晾在阳台兼过道的铁栏杆上。她最喜欢晒过的被子，闻上去有一股太阳的味道。
上午上完了金学院的课，林欣到小平市市民图书馆去看书。这图书馆离开她的公寓步行只要一刻钟。她现在有时间就来这里看书，一是省电，二是这里的环境实在比自己那小鸽子笼要好多了。
看完书，回家收了被子，下午四点半，她准时赶到车站前的咖啡店和中岛见面。她是有意把见面安排在这个时间，这样完事后她就可以直接去カンカル打工了。中岛和房东太太的家都在小平市的另一端，平时并不到靠近国分寺的这边来。她没有告诉中岛和房东太太自己在カンカル打工的事。防人之心不可无。
中岛经常去大阪、神户那一带出差，有时也出国，所以他们的课也是三周晒，一天打鱼。房东太太介绍他们认识三个多月了，也没见几次。然而就是这有限的几次，让林欣开始慢慢看穿了中岛的为人。
有意无意地，中岛总是喜欢把话题往≈ap;ldo;性≈ap;rdo;的方面引。
在东京，即使像《週刊朝日》这类比较严肃的杂志，中间的插页也往往是年轻女孩子的性感照片，甚至是裸照。在24小时便利店出售的各种杂志上，女人的裸体照片更是俯仰皆是，从少女到熟女都有。每个电车站、繁华路口，总有人派发印着テレフォンクラブ（电话俱乐部：先和小姐在电话上聊，聊好了就在外面见面）、スナック（日式酒吧）广告的餐巾纸。避孕套在自动售货机里就可以买得到。出租录像带的店里，设着av专。情人旅馆（ラブホテル）更是遍布东京各个角落。和这个国家在衣食住行各方面的细致周到一样，≈ap;ldo;性≈ap;rdo;在这里也是很方便的。
中岛会突然拿了本杂志，翻到女孩子的性感照片，用夹着日语词的蹩脚英文问林欣是不是喜欢女模特穿的内衣，或是问她喜欢什么样的内衣。再不就是指着≈ap;ldo;真裸≈ap;rdo;之类的词问林欣是否知道是什么意思。
对于中岛的这些无聊问题，林欣经常装着听不懂。那中岛倒是会给自己下台阶，总是拍着头说：≈ap;ldo;我的发音太差了呀！≈ap;rdo;他大概认为这样的话题是最适练习英文的。如果不是因着房东太太的介绍，林欣早就不想再进行这滑稽的英文课了。然而从昨天房东太太的反应来看，好像她对自己和中岛的英文课并不关心。
中岛这次出差去了巴黎。林欣于是问他对巴黎的印象。
中岛照例将嘴巴先热了身，然后才说：≈ap;ldo;很忙。就是在公司和酒店。没有时间出去。≈ap;rdo;说到这，他的嘴唇又动了半天，看得林欣替他着急。
≈ap;ldo;我给你买了礼物。≈ap;rdo;中岛半天才挤出这句话。
他们每次上课，中岛总是请林欣喝一杯咖啡，或是橘子水，不过两、三日元而已，就算是上课的酬劳。听中岛说给她带了礼物，林欣并不意外。日本人很讲究送礼（おみやげ），无论是公干还是私事，出个门回来总要给家人、朋友、同事等方方面面的人带礼物。因此日本人出国旅游也就忙两件事：购物和照相。单说购物，除了因为海外的物价，特别是奢侈品的价格往往比日本便宜许多，更多的是为了送礼。
此刻中岛从包里摸出一只细长的白色小盒子捏在手上。是一支口红。
≈ap;ldo;这是我在巴黎给你买的。≈ap;rdo;那中岛用日语说，却没有把口红递过来，而是隔着桌子向林欣倾过身子来：≈ap;ldo;准备大学院的考试，很辛苦吧？≈ap;rdo;
≈ap;ldo;对，每天都很忙。≈ap;rdo;林欣下意识地挺直了身子向后靠在椅背上，和对面坐着的中岛尽量拉开距离。
≈ap;ldo;你看这样吧。≈ap;rdo;中岛低头看着手里的小盒子，≈ap;ldo;现在天已经开始冷了。你公寓那种木结构的老房子是挡不住寒气的。不如这样吧，我们可以去ホテル（旅馆）开个房间。旅馆暖和，你可以好好准备考试。≈ap;rdo;
林欣开始还以为自己听错了。定了定神，她的心才开始突突地跳起来。她努力刻制住自己，淡淡地说：≈ap;ldo;时间不早了，我得回家学习去了。≈ap;rdo;
那中岛倒也没说什么，笑呵呵地站起来，拿起他的包，把口红放了回去。
林欣决定这英文课就到此为止了。
