東京原宿。
10月1号开学那天，林欣去图书馆查《朝日新闻》的。怕卡纸，却偏偏卡纸！折腾了半天，仍然不行。林欣只好去办公室搬救兵。不想那打扮得漂漂亮亮的女秘书还不如林欣知道得多，而且还是一副不胜其烦的样子。后来来了个男人，她就借口溜了。最后还是林欣自己弄好了。
另一件更倒霉的事情发生在机房：她的磁碟（floppy）（那个时候可真原始啊）坏了！过去一个月辛辛苦苦写出来的一万字也没了！她恨自己怎么蠢到这个地步，竟然一个备份也没留！林欣简直沮丧到了极点，把自己杀了的心都有。
她带着欲哭无泪的心情去查eailsup注/sup。过去两个月还真是收到了不少邮件，基本上都是同学来的，有几封是志远的，还有一封是春秋回美国后写给她的。她一封一封地读着，突然愣住了：竟然有一封是大谷的！时间是9月24号。她迫不及待地点开邮件：是一张电子贺卡。卡上是衣袂飘飘、驾着七彩祥云的嫦娥，背景是一轮金黄的圆月。一行红色的字：林欣，中秋节快乐！
≈ap;ldo;林欣，中秋节快乐≈ap;rdo;---她反复读着这几个字，自去年八月与大谷相识以来的的点点滴滴在她的脑海里闪电般地掠过：来上翻译课的第一天、斋藤家的饺子宴、没能去成的滑雪、《竹取物语》、周二周四课间和去涉谷车站路上的谈话、お台場的夜晚、隅田川的烟花、鸭鸭餐厅的午餐，还有鎌倉的红叶≈ap;hellip;≈ap;hellip;她惊讶于自己竟然记得那样多的细节：替自己拉上背包拉链时的仔细；说≈ap;ldo;（我的生日）和≈ap;ldo;机器猫≈ap;rdo;是同一天≈ap;rdo;时的微笑；摆着手拒绝去喂那些轰炸机般的鸽子≈ap;hellip;≈ap;hellip;一瞬间她突然很自责，虽然她并没有做错什么。
≈ap;ldo;林欣，中秋节快乐≈ap;rdo;---她应该怎么回复大谷呢？

安妮这次从美国回来神清气爽的。
安妮告诉林欣：她写了一封长长的信给john，把胸中的块垒都吐尽了。

10月18号是安妮的生日，正赶上星期六。她邀请了一大群朋友在原宿的一家餐厅开了个盛大
的生日party。朋友又带着朋友，最后竟然来了三十多个人！占了一个大包间。林欣叫上了akei。
这是一家泰国餐厅，布置得很有民族风。林欣、akei和安妮一桌，同桌十来个人当中她只认得天野和比利时女孩子els。els是安妮在二号馆最好的朋友。
安妮和林欣的中间隔着一个三十来岁的白人男子，有点谢顶，和天野二人相映成趣。安妮给林欣介绍说：这是greg，也是美国人。他在中国待过九年呢！
林欣微笑着问greg：≈ap;ldo;你会说中文吗？≈ap;rdo;
greg用中文回答：≈ap;ldo;当然！待了九年还不会中文，那我太笨了！≈ap;rdo;
林欣忙也用中文说：≈ap;ldo;你不知道，在东京的老外里，待了二十年一句日语不会说的也大有人在。我大学的美国教授，还娶了日本太太呢，照样不会说。≈ap;rdo;
greg扬了扬眉毛仍然用中文说：≈ap;ldo;我去中国就是为了学中文。去大陆之前，我在台湾学过一年。≈ap;rdo;
≈ap;ldo;how is his ese?≈ap;rdo;安妮在一边好奇地问。
≈ap;ldood!≈ap;rdo;林欣是认真的，那greg却打着哈哈对安妮说：≈ap;ldo;你这样问，人家当然只能说≈ap;lso;好≈ap;rso;啦。≈ap;rdo;
安妮告诉林欣，greg现在是japan tis的记者，他们是通过安妮打工的abews驻东京支局局长认识的。
els暑假才去了中国，此刻她插进来说：≈ap;ldo;我这次去中国简直太幸运了！我学校的中国同学小莉----她是中国人，家乡在西安，她帮我介绍了她在国内的同学。结果，我在中国每走一个地方，就有人来帮我，带着我玩，给我做翻译。在西安是小莉的同学，去兰州、甘肃这些地方是小莉同学的同学，同学的亲戚、亲戚的亲戚。去中国之前，我还很担心，结果这是我最愉快的一次旅行！中国人对朋友真是太好啦！而且中国人到哪里都有同学、朋友、亲戚，真是不可思议！≈ap;rdo;
林欣正微笑着，greg却冷笑着说：≈ap;ldo;你要当心啊！中国人帮助你，往往不是白帮的。今天他们帮了你，明天他们可就指望着你帮助他们了。≈ap;rdo;
els一向是个率直的人，听了greg的话，马上两眼紧盯住林欣问：≈ap;ldo;是真的吗？≈ap;rdo;
林欣保持着脸上的微笑说：≈ap;ldo;至少你可以放心，只要你不在中国，他们不会追到东京来请你帮忙。≈ap;rdo;说完又看了greg一眼。
els听了好像很不满足的样子，而安妮已经把话题岔开问greg在中国时都去过那些地方。greg说基本上东南西北都走遍了，不过大多数时候还是在北京。
≈ap;ldo;是不是有很多中国妈妈抢着把她们的女儿介绍给你呀？≈ap;rdo;安妮忽然冷不丁地问了这么个问题。greg哈哈笑着说：≈ap;ldo;我也是去中国和来日本之后，才意识到本人还是个帅哥呢！≈ap;rdo;
晚餐从下午五点一直吃到晚上八点才散。在门口，一个精瘦的亚裔女孩子过来和安妮打招呼，那女孩子一口伦敦音，很悦耳的嗓音。安妮对身边的林欣说：≈ap;ldo;这是judy，香港来的≈ap;rdo;，又指着林欣对judy说：≈ap;ldo;这是林欣，她的家在南京。≈ap;rdo;
judy马上用很标准的普通话说：≈ap;ldo;呀，能见到讲国语的人真是太好啦！≈ap;rdo;
林欣笑着说：≈ap;ldo;你的普通话讲得真好！我还以为在香港都是说英文和广东话呢。≈ap;rdo;
judy转着漆黑的眼珠说：≈ap;ldo;那可是97年以前的事啦。现在的年轻人都在学讲普通话！≈ap;rdo;
都说香港人实际，看着眼前的这个judy，林欣想：真是名不虚传。
