题记：这是一个普普通通的中国女孩子在九十年代末期留学日本时发生的故事。

四方教授的传媒理论课。
林欣被陈桑和黄桑一左一右地夹在当中。能在课堂上看见这二位可真是件稀罕事。而另一位李桑，林欣只在刚开学的时候见过两次。
林欣他们这些研究生的所谓上课，就是旁听学部生（本科生）的大课。正式开讲前，四方教授总要让学生们对最近的新闻大事发表自己的看法。比如刚一开学，他让大家就戴安娜王妃车祸身亡这件新闻发表一下对狗仔队的看法。
林欣那天竟也发了言，还说了很多，让其他研究生们惊讶之余，也刮目相看。连一向严厉的四方教授也微微点了点头。
不知为什么，对于戴安娜王妃的死，林欣竟然有种兔死狐悲的伤感。8月31日那天下午从小平市市民图书馆回来，扭开电视，小小的电视屏幕上赫然出现那汽车残骸和戴安娜生前的照片。那一瞬间的感觉就好似上楼梯冷不防踏空了一般。
戴安娜生前看似拥有普通女人渴望的一切：财富、地位、美貌、声名，然而却没有一个爱她的丈夫。林欣读过她的传记，知道她的童年是寂寞的，没有母爱的温暖。而林欣也不是在一个温暖的家庭里长大的。温暖与踏实的生活才让林欣感到安全。
眼下，四方教授在上面讲，陈桑却不时凑到林欣耳边和她讲些无关紧要的话。林欣摒住呼吸才能避开陈桑口里的异味和身上的香烟味。她终于忍无可忍，竖起食指放在嘴唇上，示意陈桑闭嘴。
林欣不喜欢陈桑。这个三十来岁的男人说不上哪点让林欣很不放心。他对于林欣倒是相当的殷勤。上次去热海宿，他总是不离林欣左右，照相的时候还把手搭在林欣肩膀上。连安妮和申桑都问林欣陈桑是不是在追求她。可是林欣总是感觉陈桑对于自己的兴趣只是因为她的年轻，而不是因为她的人。她不信任这样的男人。连一向待人友善的安妮也说不喜欢陈桑。
黄桑是个上海小伙子，高个子，长得一表人才。他的理想是赚了钱，娶一个上海姑娘。对于林欣的认真，他有点不以为然。就像林欣也看不惯陈桑和黄桑他们总是逃课。不过林欣对黄桑的印象却不错。黄桑这样对林欣说过：≈ap;ldo;人各有志，让我们为了各自的理想奋斗吧！≈ap;rdo;这话写下来没什么，听起来却有点滑稽。然而林欣觉得他是对的：人各有志。
下了课，陈桑和黄桑都匆匆赶去打工了。
安妮叫了林欣一起去校园的长椅上坐一会儿。林欣看看手表，离赶去打工还有时间，于是两人去自动售货机上买了点吃的，就捡了张安静的长椅坐下来。
深秋的天气已经很有些凉意了，两人都不由得裹紧了外套。林欣于是提议去学校旁边的堤防（土手）走走，安妮立即答应了。
这条堤防在日本历史上曾经是江戸城外护城河（江戸城外濠）堤防（东京外堀）的一部分，顺着外濠向北可以到东京赏樱花的三大名所之一：千鸟之渊。这个名字本身就让林欣对那里神往不已。她来日本的时候，错过了东京的樱花季节，只赶上了满地落英缤纷。安妮说这堤防也是赏樱花的好地方。
≈ap;ldo;我们明年考上大学院，一起来这里看樱花吧！≈ap;rdo;安妮热情地说。林欣暗笑：原来安妮也有许多明年的计划呀。
两人慢慢地走着，不时有落叶在秋风中飘落在地上。
安妮从包里掏出两个橘子，递了一个在林欣手里。
≈ap;ldo;吃吧。武市教授给的。≈ap;rdo;安妮说。
≈ap;ldo;什么时候？≈ap;rdo; 林欣只觉得一点小火苗升起来，灼灼地舐着她的心。武市教授终日埋首于他的著书立说中，别说对学生，就是和其他的教授也交流甚少。
≈ap;ldo;上午我去他的研究室あいさつ（问候）的时候。≈ap;rdo;安妮很随意地说。
这些研究生里，也只有安妮经常去各个教授的研究室あいさつ。其他人不是不想，只是不敢。况且恐怕去了教授也不会理睬。他们都是忙人。上次林欣好容易找到一份面向研究生的奖学金，去请山田教授在推荐表上写推荐意见，他一口就回绝了：没时间！后来还是春原教授推荐的。可惜林欣的申请没有成功，她着实对春原教授抱歉，白费了他的时间。
然而系里所有的教授都对安妮这个唯一的西方人格外客气。也只有对安妮，他们才称呼她的名，而不是姓。这大概是教授们对于美国文化的尊重吧。

林欣暗想:我倒是也想花这个时间呢,只是没有这个机会。

≈ap;ldo;不怎么样。念书的时间总是不够。≈ap;rdo;林欣叹口气。≈ap;ldo;每天打完工都精疲力尽。≈ap;rdo;
≈ap;ldo;我也是总没有时间。駒場（安妮住的留学生会馆）的party我好多都错过了。对了，忘了告诉你，我找到一份新工！在abews 东京支局！≈ap;rdo;安妮很开心地说。
