题记：这是一个普普通通的中国女孩子在九十年代末期留学日本时发生的故事。

东京都小平市カンカル。
一进入十二月，天气就越发冷了。
林欣的小房间里没有暖气，只靠房东太太给的一只手提式煤油取暖器御寒。夜里，她不敢一直开着取暖器睡，怕失了火，因此总是在临睡前开一下就关掉。早晨醒来鼻尖和脸颊永远是冰冷的。
随着天气的一天天变冷，年末的气氛也开始渐渐地在空气里浓郁起来。三越、丸井、伊勢丹、高島屋、東急这些大型货店都早早打出巨型セール（sale）广告，红底白字，让人看着心痒，想去买点什么。
年末最重要的两个日子是圣诞夜和大晦日（一年的最后一天），而更吸引林欣的还是圣诞夜。
在很多日本人眼里，来自西方的东西总是浪漫的、时尚的。虽然基督教教徒在全日本人口中的比例不足分之一，但这并不防碍日本年轻人在教堂举行西式婚礼。在五彩玻璃的尖顶大教堂里披上洁白的婚纱，是许多女孩子从小梦寐以求的；而那些日本父亲们也盼望着有朝一日含着泪、挽着自己的爱女走过白或是红色的バージンロード（处女之路：教堂婚礼大堂入口到祭坛之间的一段路，铺着地毯或者布），把她交给她未来的丈夫。
圣诞夜在日本是属于年轻情侣的浪漫日子，与宗教无关。十二月二十四日这天夜晚，日本女孩子会比平日格外精心打扮，与自己的恋人享受烛光晚餐；而男孩子们为了和自己的她共度良宵，则早早就预订好大酒店。
圣诞节也是属于辛苦工作了一年的人们。东京本来就是个不夜城。夜幕降临，在银座、新宿、涉谷、六本木、表参道这些繁华所在，雪亮的灯光从商业大楼的落地玻璃窗里映出来。那些楼一个挨着一个，细而高地耸入夜空里去，水晶宫似的通体透明，看得见里面忙忙碌碌的身影。星光总是黯然失色于各色霓虹招牌和巨大广告牌上的流动广告。进入了十二月，这些平日里司空见惯的繁华热闹自不必说，道路两旁的树枝上更是早早就装饰了成千上万的圣诞彩灯（クリスマスイルミネーション），在夜色里是真正的火树银花。酒店的大堂里，人们忙着在富丽堂皇的巨大圣诞树前拍照，那些快门的频频闪光也是圣诞树装饰的一部分。
这欢乐的圣诞气氛感染了林欣，让她暂时忘记了打工的辛苦和前途的未知。
20号那天晚上，林欣和安妮去了tokyo iional church。那晚，青山女子学院的短大（相当于中国的大专）女生们表演hand bell。二十个年轻女孩子，一色的白绸衬衫，领子上系着米色薄纱蝴蝶结。在红色丝绒的背景幕布衬托下，她们手里的银色hand bell优雅地摇动着。林欣特别喜欢从左边数的第五个女孩子，她看起来纯洁得像富士山上的春雪。林欣指着那女孩子悄悄对安妮说：≈ap;ldo;我真希望自己长成她那个样子！≈ap;rdo;安妮侧过头来看了看她，也轻声说：≈ap;ldo;你比她可爱。≈ap;rdo;
进入年末，也是各种各样忘年会的季节。一起工作了一年，无论平日里彼此之间有多少不愉快，人们都愿意在忘年会上的推杯换盏里把它们留在旧的一年。
12月的倒数第二个星期天是カンカル的忘年会。中午，店长、岛田、林欣和另外两个在店里帮忙的大学生桥本和高桥五个人，再加上店长的太太和两个儿子，倒也十分热闹。两个小男孩大的不过五、六岁，小的也就三、四岁，都留着齐眉刘海，可爱又调皮，不时扮着鬼脸。店长太太看上去是个很贤惠的女人，一直忙前忙后照顾大家。
八个人团团地围坐在用两张餐桌拼起来的长桌周围。桌上挤满了店长做的菜：海老のチリソース（番茄辣酱炒虾）、鶏の唐揚げ（炸鸡）、パエリア（西班牙式大锅饭）、鴨のコンフィー（法式鸭）、ノルマンディーの小悪魔（法式炸奶油）、牛タン（烤牛舌）、トマトサラダ（蕃茄沙拉），五彩缤纷的，都是カンカル的招牌菜。
店长仍然穿着平日里干活穿的白色制服，笑眯眯地坐在那里看着大家，一副心满意足的样子。林欣他们几个打工的女孩子都轮流给店长敬酒，感谢店长在过去一年里的关照。店长也笑眯眯地对每个人说：ご苦労様でした（你辛苦了！）
岛田也仍穿了她豆绿色的长围裙，守在店长的两个小男孩身边，逗他们玩。店长的太太拿了个相机，不断地给大家照相。
敬过了酒，大家开始一面吃菜，一面闲聊。今天的这些菜，虽然林欣平日里早看熟了，但不少还是第一次吃。难怪カンカル有那么多常客（常連客），林欣由衷地赞道：≈ap;ldo;店长的手艺真好!≈ap;rdo;大家都笑着点头，店长笑眯眯地说：≈ap;ldo;下次请林桑来做一次真正的中国菜。≈ap;rdo;大家都说≈ap;ldo;好≈ap;rdo;。林欣红着脸说：≈ap;ldo;我的手艺≈ap;hellip;≈ap;hellip;≈ap;rdo;店长的太太在一旁细声细气地说:≈ap;ldo;没关系。店长平日在家是不进厨房的，都是吃我做的家常菜。≈ap;rdo;岛田对林欣说：≈ap;ldo;你应该跟店长学做两个菜，将来回国做给你爸爸妈妈吃。≈ap;rdo;又指了指高桥，她比林欣早来店里半年：≈ap;ldo;高桥就跟店长学会了做海老のチリソース！≈ap;rdo;高桥笑着使劲点头。
吃着聊着，不知怎的这话题就说到了血型。岛田说她是o型。林欣暗想：看着就像。她高中的一个好朋友是个血型迷，介绍她看了能见正比古的书，所以对于日本人关于血型的看法，她是知道一些的。
店长看着林欣说：≈ap;ldo;林桑是a型吧。≈ap;rdo;
林欣有点惊讶，问店长为什么这么觉得。
店长说：≈ap;ldo;你先说对不对吧。≈ap;rdo;
林欣点头。
≈ap;ldo;林桑一看就是那种要把书桌收拾干净再念书的人。≈ap;rdo;店长很得意地说。
店长太太在一旁接过来话头：≈ap;ldo;店长呀，自己就是a型。≈ap;rdo;
大家又问起林欣考大学院的事，林欣说考试是明年年初，现在还在准备。
岛田问林欣将来有什么打算，林欣想了想，只得说：还不知道。
店长粉红着脸说：≈ap;ldo;无论干什么，做个好人是最要紧的。我就希望将来我死了，大家来参加我的葬礼时，都能说一句≈ap;lso;米田先生可是个好人≈ap;rso;！≈ap;rdo;
听了店长的话，岛田笑得连酒杯里的酒都晃动起来：≈ap;ldo;你都死了，还在乎谁说你好，谁说你不好！≈ap;rdo;
