题记：这是一个普普通通的中国女孩子在九十年代末期留学日本时发生的故事。
东京涉谷。
年末的新年联欢会是金瑞瑶中国语学院的传统，据说已经好多年了。刚进入十二月，金学院的学生们就开始兴致勃勃地准备新年联欢会上要表演的节目。林欣特意在高级会话班上教了一首《但愿人长久》。喜欢王菲的小林最开心。林欣她们班要在联欢会上唱这首歌。
离新年联欢会还有一个星期的那个周六，林欣刚走进课室，就惊讶地发现大谷和斋藤正凑在一起商量着什么。看到大谷她有点意外，不知怎的脸微微发热。
见她进来，大谷忙说：≈ap;ldo;林老师，我们想请你帮忙。≈ap;rdo;斋藤在一边拼命点头附和着：≈ap;ldo;对对，林老师，帮帮我们！≈ap;rdo;。
林欣放下背包，疑惑地走过去。
大谷指着桌子上的一张纸说：≈ap;ldo;我们要演《竹取物语》，没有人演公。我们想请林老师来演公！≈ap;rdo;斋藤在旁边继续不断地点头。
《竹取物语》？林欣在大学的时候只是听说过名字，并不知道故事的具体内容。她有些犹豫：这本应是学生出场的表演，自己这个做老师的掺乎在里面，那谢老师会不会又不高兴呢？
仿佛看出了林欣的心思似的，斋藤用日语说：≈ap;ldo;林老师，你什么也不用说，只坐在那里就行了。他们（他一指大谷）--大谷，还有明石、大野，这些王子会去向你求婚。≈ap;rdo;
大谷在一边笑，这回轮到他不住地点头。
≈ap;ldo;那斋藤你做什么呢？≈ap;rdo;听说只要坐在那里就行，林欣放了心，微笑着问斋藤。
≈ap;ldo;我？≈ap;rdo;斋藤指着自己的鼻子说：≈ap;ldo;我是做导演的。责任很重大！林老师，要努力啊 （頑張ってね）！≈ap;rdo;
新年联欢会是在十二月的最后一个星期六。金学院借了附近一个公民馆的一间大会议室作会场。联欢会那天会场里张灯结彩，布置得相当的中国。许久没在学院露面的金瑞瑶也早早地就来到会场和学生们联络感情。她穿着华贵的紫红丝绒旗袍，葵花形钻石胸针光华夺目。烫过的头发盘在脑后，耳朵上是和胸针配套的钻石耳坠子。脸上依然是浓施脂粉。十指尖尖，涂着和口红同色的玫瑰红指甲油。每次看见金瑞瑶，林欣总觉得她不像是个语言学校的校长，至于像什么，她却又说不出来。
谢婉云今天也精心打扮着，走的仍然是布娃娃路线。林欣听到有学生赞谢婉云身上的那件浅粉色印花薄呢连衣裙，那谢婉云娇声说：≈ap;ldo;这是我今年夏天去英国避暑的时候买的。≈ap;rdo;
林欣看了看自己：上身是一件半旧的蓝白格子短款小毛衣，下面配了条深蓝厚呢宽褶齐膝裙，脚上是黑色短统半高跟小靴子。除了毛衣是房东太太给的，其他的都是从国内带过来的。
会议室靠东墙放了张圆桌，桌子上摆着些小点心。服部立在桌子后面，殷勤地招呼大家。 ≈ap;ldo;林老师，咱们快去拿点心！我去年去晚了，什么都没吃着！≈ap;rdo; 小林突然跑过来，附在林欣耳边说。林欣听了便微笑着随着小林挤了过去。
今天来的人可真不少。听谢婉云说今晚不单请了全体在校生，还有不少过去的学生，虽然他们早已不在金学院上课了。林欣暗暗佩服金院长会做人情。
六点钟，联欢晚会正式开始。首先由金院长致词。
她的致词很短。先是满面春风地用中文向大家道辛苦，然后感谢他们在过去一年对金学院的照顾。最后深鞠一躬说：来年もどうぞ宜しくお願いします（明年也请多多关照）！
接下来是学生们表演节目。大家围了个大圈子，将中间的场地空出来表演用。
学生们各显才艺：唱中国歌的、跳中国民族舞的、说相声的、表演中国功夫的、诗朗诵的≈ap;hellip;≈ap;hellip;有个叫大冢的女孩子用二胡拉了一首《送别》，博了个满堂彩。日本人特别喜欢中国二胡如泣如诉的悲婉。news 23 的片头曲就是用二胡演奏的。
林欣班的唱也很叫好。几个学生都很开心，连那个总是面无表情的汤浅也笑咪咪的。
大谷他们的《竹取物语》是压轴戏。林欣被斋藤安排坐在房间中央的一把椅子上。大谷、明石、大野站成一排。斋藤拿出一张纸，清了清喉咙，开始念那上面的解说词：≈ap;ldo;很久很久以前，有一个老人家。他每天砍竹子。他很穷。有一天，他在竹林里捡了一个女孩子≈ap;rdo;---念到这他拿手一指坐在椅子上的林欣，房间里的人都哄笑起来，连金院长也笑个不住。斋藤等众人笑声弱了，接着念下去：≈ap;ldo;女孩子长大了。女孩子很漂亮。有很多人喜欢她。然后三个王子来求婚。≈ap;rdo;
那大谷不知从哪里变出一束花来，握在手里走到林欣面前，单膝跪了下来，双手把花捧给林欣。
林欣不知道他们有这一手，一下红了脸，正要去接。那大野跑过来一拉大谷，用日语说：≈ap;ldo;还没到你呢，应该是我先求婚！≈ap;rdo;
又是一阵哄堂大笑。于是换上大野。谁知他说到一半，又把词忘了，赶紧从兜里掏出张纸来念。最后求婚的明石倒是吸取了大野的教训，直接念稿子，可是却念串了，最后把自己绕了进去。整个一个剧演下来，中间笑声不断。林欣自己也笑得眼泪都流出来了。
表演后的抽奖，林欣竟然中了头奖。金院长亲自将一个纸袋子交到她的手里。纸袋子里面是个包着彩色纸的大盒子，也不知里面是什么。
散了场，大谷斋藤小林几个人和林欣一起步行去电车站。斋藤和小林走在前面，林欣和大谷走在后面。
大谷很开心地对林欣说：≈ap;ldo;林老师，我现在在学打高尔夫球！≈ap;rdo;
林欣知道日本人打高尔夫球多是为了生意应酬，就开玩笑说：≈ap;ldo;你是不是为了要高升呀（昇進）？≈ap;rdo;
听了这话大谷很认真地看着她说：≈ap;ldo;林老师，你应该很理解我了。我不是那样的人。≈ap;rdo;
林欣虽然知道，日本人常常弄混≈ap;ldo;理解≈ap;rdo;和≈ap;ldo;了解≈ap;rdo;这两个词的意思，可是大谷这样说还是让她觉得不好意思。
从会场到电车站的路真短，一下就到了。
四人告了别，各自去赶电车。
站在月台上，左手握着大谷给她的花，右手拎着装着大奖的纸袋子，冷和快乐，让林欣不停地踱着圈子。
≈ap;ldo;你是金学院的老师吧。≈ap;rdo;身边的一个日本男人突然开口说话，吓了林欣一大跳。
定睛一看，原来是一个三十来岁的瘦高个子，穿着件深色呢子半长大衣，手里提着个公文包，一副典型的サラリーマン（公司职员）打扮。
≈ap;ldo;是啊≈ap;rdo;，仍然沉浸在快乐里的林欣，微笑着说。≈ap;ldo;你也在金学院学汉语吗？≈ap;rdo;林欣很随意地问。
≈ap;ldo;不，我以前学过。现在不学了。今天我来打个招呼。≈ap;rdo; 男人看着林欣说了这句话，就把头转开去看脚下的月台。
林欣不再说话，继续沉浸在自己的快乐里。
过了两分钟，那男人突然看着夜空说：ホテルに行きましょう（我们去酒店吧）！
林欣先是一惊，然后迅速低下头，装作没听见。
接下来的沉默，可能只有一、两分钟，却一个世纪似的漫长。
救命的电车终于进站了，林欣赶紧跳上车，一直走到最后一节车厢，才心慌意乱地坐下来。
这是今晚的唯一败笔。
注：《竹取物语》故事说的是一个靠伐竹为生的老人在竹里里捡了个女婴，给她起名叫竹林公。后来竹林公长大了，照例是出落得沉鱼落雁之容、闭月羞花之貌。于是有五个王子上门求婚。可是最后公谁也没看上，升天而去。
