题记：这是一个普普通通的中国女孩子在九十年代末期留学日本时发生的故事。
东京駒場東大前。
搬进了駒場，周围都是留学生，林欣才觉得自己在日本的留学生活真正开始了。
駒場大部分留学生都是公费生，不是像安妮那样拿着文部省奖学金，就是有本国政府的资助。总之，他们不用靠打工来赚学费和生活费。比起像林欣这样的私费生，公费生有更多的时间读书和娱乐。
駒場是名副其实的≈ap;ldo;小联国≈ap;rdo;。就拿林欣住的一号馆三楼来说，就住着来自韩国、俄罗斯、委内瑞拉、墨西哥、意大利、澳大利亚、美国、比利时、波兰、新加坡、印度尼西亚等世界各国的女孩子。刚搬进来的时候，林欣是唯一的中国人。大家在一起聊天都用日语，那可真是南腔北调。
二楼和一楼住的全是男生，他们其中的几位时常来三楼串门。内中有个墨西哥小伙子会讲几句中文，见到林欣，总要和她用中文说上几句。也有一个中国人，是单位派出来的。三十多岁，已经结了婚。林欣下楼时偶尔见到他，会停下来聊两句。
一楼有一间大娱乐室，放了沙发和彩电。留学生们可以在这里看电视。一号馆的大门是锁着的，每个一号馆的留学生都可以用自己的房间钥匙打开大门。
每一层楼有二十来个房间，均匀地分列于狭窄的楼道两层。近楼梯口，都有一个公共厨房。推开两扇磨砂玻璃门，迎面是长方形的一个房间，南北向整齐地排着几张长桌，一些椅子。西面靠墙的长桌上摆着不知谁留下的一台旧电视，而东面靠墙的桌子上则高高低低挤着各式各样的电饭煲。靠门的一侧洼进去一个小间，设了几只煤气灶。墙上钉着个漆成灰色的木头架子，分成许多小格子，每个小格子下方钉着个小铝牌，上面印着房间号。大家都把各自的一些零碎东西放在属于自己的小格子里：调味料啦、刀叉碗筷之类的。
安妮住的二号馆比一号馆大一倍，住的学生也多一倍。駒場办公室就设在一层。大厅里一进门迎面是一张半人高的弧形木台，台子后面终日坐着穿天蓝制服的警卫。
駒場也有几个日本学生。他们是从附近大学招来的チューター（tutor），基本上是隔壁东大的学生。他们都是大学二、三年级，据说是经过了严格的考试选拔，应该是品学兼优的。チューター们免费住在这里，每天晚上轮流在チューター室里值一、两个小时班。外国留学生有什么问题，可以去问。刚搬来的时候，林欣很是兴奋了一阵子。以为这下有机会好好提高日语了。谁想这些比她小三、四岁的孩子竟然个个是高傲而冷淡的。其中一个叫铃木的女生，就住在一号馆三层。平日在公共厨房碰见了，铃木也会很随和地和林欣聊天。然而一进了チューター室，她也马上换了个人似的，冷漠高傲起来。
不过真正高傲而冷淡的还是那些警卫。制服冰冷的蓝色给他们在高傲和冷淡之上，还添了些威严。这些警卫都是上了年纪的老头子，看上去脑子都不大灵光。只有一个小林是例外。此人天生一副《極道の妻》（日本的一个黑会题材的电影）里黑会头头的嘴脸。林欣每次见了他都暗想：不知他背上是否也有繁复的刺青。
出了駒場留学生会馆的院子，向左手一拐，顺着一条向下的斜坡走两分钟，就到了≈ap;ldo;駒場東大前≈ap;rdo;站。站前有一个24小时便利店，駒場的留学生都爱在那买东西。店里有一位五十来岁的女店员，每有顾客进来，总是逼尖了喉咙高声叫道：欢迎光临（いらっしゃいませ！）她是全駒場留学生的笑柄。像林欣这样来自中国或者韩国的学生倒也罢了，安妮这样的欧美学生尤其不能理解为什么日本女人在表示礼貌的时候都要把音高提上八度去。
井之头（井の頭線）线坐两站，就是下北沢。这里是一条地道的学生街。林欣常常约了安妮来这里买东西。买了东西，大袋小袋地提着，挤上电车回宿舍。
安妮说：≈ap;ldo;在美国，也只有在纽约、华盛顿这样的地方才会坐电车去买东西。一般大家都开车。≈ap;rdo;林欣在南京的家，也是下了楼就是小的超市。不过比起在小平住的那阵子，每次买东西都要来回步行一个小时，还是好多了。
从駒場到学校也很方便，只要坐两站在渋谷换一次车、不到半个小时就能到学校。周末去金学院打工也只要坐十分钟的电车。
搬进駒場以后，林欣觉得在日本的生活终于顺畅起来了！
