tokaz 教授盯着林欣的脸，那冰冷的蓝眼睛一眨也不眨。林欣不由得回避着他冷淡的目光。半晌，他终于开了口：≈ap;ldo;你是四谷校的学生，≈ap;rdo; tokaz 教授一口漂亮的伦敦音说道，≈ap;ldo;不能随便到市谷来听课。况且，你不交学费，别的学生知道了会怎么想呢？≈ap;rdo;
从tokaz 教授那里出来，林欣在庭院里找了张长椅坐下来，紧挨着一大丛鲜艳的杜鹃花（さつきつつじ）。
校园里来来往往不断地有学生走过。林欣看着他们，心里品度着：这些帰国子女看起来还真是和四谷那边的学生不一样！
林欣的大学在四谷和市谷各有一个校。市谷校的课都是用英文，基本上是来自英国和美国的外教在教。而学生则以帰国子女为。所谓帰国子女，就是那些从小在海外（要是欧美国家）受了教育，英语比日语好的日本学生。他们都非常洋化，穿着打扮、举止做派都和一般的日本学生不同，彼此之间也只用英文交谈。
从京都旅行回来，林欣决定要好好提高一下自己的英文。安妮建议她来市谷旁听。于是趁今天下午大学院那边没课，她忙赶到市谷校。查了一下课表，发现只有tokaz 教授的作文课和hird 教授的演讲课(public speakg)在时间和内容上都适。
刚才tokaz 教授的这一盆冷水，让她不再那么一盆火似的了。如果hird 教授也一样呢？唉！不试又怎么知道，大不了再碰个钉子！难道在日本教授那里钉子还碰得少吗？！
hird 教授的课上只有不到十个学生。林欣一下子就注意到其中一个三十七、八岁的日本女人。其他的学生都是二十出头的学部生。
今天是学生present的日子。学生们的presentation林欣只能听懂个大概。每个学生做完了presentation, 教授都会让其他学生在一张纸上匿名写下反馈，然后交给那speaker。轮到那三十七、八岁的女人，林欣留意到hird 教授叫她satoi。satoi的英文里夹杂着很多日语的发音。林欣倒是基本上听明白了，心里舒了口气。
下了课，hird教授让林欣跟着他走到校园的庭院里。竟然也捡定了林欣刚才坐的那张长椅。
教授舒舒服服地在长椅上坐下，将夹在臂弯里的几本课本放在一旁。示意林欣在他身边坐下。
他看上去有快六十岁了，尖尖的大鼻子。银白的头发整齐地向后梳着，露出光亮的前额。脸上很和气。
林欣看着他，心不再跳得那么凶了。
≈ap;ldo;教授----≈ap;rdo;她鼓起勇气直视着hird教授的灰色眼睛。≈ap;ldo;我是大学院新闻系一年级的学生。我非常喜欢英文！可是≈ap;hellip;≈ap;hellip;≈ap;rdo;她垂下睫毛，≈ap;ldo;我的英文不好≈ap;hellip;≈ap;hellip;教授,我可以旁听这门课吗?≈ap;rdo;她抬起眼帘,恳切地望着hird，接着说:≈ap;ldo;我一定不会影响其他学生的！如果课上的时间不够，我可以不做presentation 只要您能允许我旁听其他学生的presentation，对我来说，就会帮助很大了！≈ap;rdo;
听完她的话，hird教授略略沉吟了一下，然后缓缓地开了口：≈ap;ldo;你可以来上我的课。不过≈ap;hellip;≈ap;hellip;≈ap;rdo;
林欣紧张地盯着教授的脸，等着下文。
hird教授挤了挤右眼：≈ap;ldo;你不能告诉别的学生你只是旁听，没有付过钱。≈ap;rdo;林欣连忙点头。
hird教授摆了摆手，又说道：≈ap;ldo;所以你要向其他学生一样，完成所有的projects 和presentations。你做得到吗？≈ap;rdo;他笑咪咪地看着林欣,明显地只等着一个肯定的答复。
≈ap;ldo;做得到，当然做得到！≈ap;rdo;林欣使劲地点着头，再也找不出别的话来说。
hird教授笑吟吟地拿起放在一边的课本，立起身，说了句：≈ap;ldo;那么我们下次课见！≈ap;rdo;，就慢慢地向教学楼走去了。
演讲课让林欣更忙碌了。每次做presentation之前，她都要忙到很晚。班上那些帰国子女都是拿着个写着简略提纲的卡片就口若悬河地说上十分钟。比起他们，只在中学学过英文的林欣程度实在太差。她必须把事前反复修改过的稿子一个字一个字地背下来。
≈ap;ldo;真佩服你的记忆力！≈ap;rdo;几个学生给林欣的反馈意见上这样写到。他们哪里知道，如果在presentation过程中有任何分散了注意力的打岔，哪怕只是瞟一眼卡片，林欣都会忘掉所有的词。
≈ap;ldo;哎，我们班同学的英语实在太好了！≈ap;rdo;
晚间林欣和安妮一边喝着茶，一边把课上的情形告诉她。
安妮听了不以为然地耸耸肩说：≈ap;ldo;好不好，得native speaker 说了才算呢！≈ap;rdo;
林欣想，以自己的英文程度去判断别人的水平，的确有些可笑。
≈ap;ldo;林桑，你做presentation 之前可以先跟我练习一下。≈ap;rdo;热心的安妮动和林欣说。
≈ap;ldo;那当然好了！可是≈ap;hellip;≈ap;hellip;我能为你做点什么呢？≈ap;rdo;林欣不想只是一味的从安妮那里得到帮助。
